In this week’s audio update of Under The Dome, KNEA Director of Communications Marcus Baltzell talks with KNEA President Sherri Schwanz and KNEA Director of Government Relations and Legislative Affairs Tim Graham. The discussion focuses on why expanding Medicaid is vital for our students, their families and our teachers.

President Schwanz explains why a child needs to be healthy in order to have the best chance to learn. Tim Graham talks about how Medicaid expansion is expected to get some kind of public discussion later in the legislative session but that expectations for any significant movement on this “political football” need to be tempered. He also said the flat tax bill that Gov. Laura Kelly has vetoed is expected to get a hearing in the Senate early the week of Feb. 5. The future of the special education funding taskforce also remains in question.
